Ron's RV7 Aircraft Factory

Welcome to my personal blog. This site was created as an informal description of my build progress in the construction of a Van's RV7 aircraft. A place where family/friends/builders/curiosity seekers can follow along. It is not intended to be a detailed description of every step in the building process as that would be much too time consuming. There are plenty of sites that do a great job in that arena, that is not my intention with this site. My intention is for this to be a philisophical/motivational/inspirational account of the emotional ups and downs of the life changing journey...and it will change your life. I hope this will give you an idea, through my eyes, of what its like to make this transformation. A note to other builders, I am not an expert so do not put your safety at risk by attempting anything you see on this site until you have done your own research, or send me an email so we can discuss it. Any deviations from the plans are not approved, nor endorsed by Van's Aircraft or myself. Thanks for visiting.

More Panel Prep HOBBS 1440.0 hrs

On Friday, I placed my last avionics orders to round out the panel. With Stein, I ordered a PS Engineering PAR100EX (Comm/Intercomm/Audio Panel combined), Garmin SL 40 for my primary comm, Garmin GDU 375 which will grow up to be a G3X in the future and a Garmin GDL 39 for ADS-B traffic and weather. I also ordered my Vertical Power VP-X Pro from Marc. So...in preparation for all of this to arrive, I am prepping the panel.

I requested from Geoff at Aerosport to send me 1:1 plots of the panel inserts and he was kind enough to do that for me. He will sell you these laser cut out of alum and ready to go for $100. Bu I knew I could do it cheaper myself, and with these 1:1 plots...it was really easy to get nice results.

I am going with Aveo's rockrack system for my switches. These are LED backlit, and I just really like the look and feel of them. I ordered the mounting housings and the switch tops...the switches themselves I will order a little later.

Time to start cutting holes in the panel...doing my layout prep.

The switch caps attach directly to the switch (which I don't have), so these are just sitting in the housing to give you an idea what it will look like.
