Ron's RV7 Aircraft Factory

Welcome to my personal blog. This site was created as an informal description of my build progress in the construction of a Van's RV7 aircraft. A place where family/friends/builders/curiosity seekers can follow along. It is not intended to be a detailed description of every step in the building process as that would be much too time consuming. There are plenty of sites that do a great job in that arena, that is not my intention with this site. My intention is for this to be a philisophical/motivational/inspirational account of the emotional ups and downs of the life changing journey...and it will change your life. I hope this will give you an idea, through my eyes, of what its like to make this transformation. A note to other builders, I am not an expert so do not put your safety at risk by attempting anything you see on this site until you have done your own research, or send me an email so we can discuss it. Any deviations from the plans are not approved, nor endorsed by Van's Aircraft or myself. Thanks for visiting.

500 Landings!! HOBBS 221.5 hrs

No work on the project the last two days. Sometimes a guy needs a break, last night I went to a free concert at Flatirons Mall. A country band called "Triple Nickel". They weren't too bad, weather was great, beer was cold. ;) Tonight I am heading out to FTG for a hangar BBQ and movie night with my RV friends: Gary, Caroline, Scott, Deb and meeting Paul Rosales (Rosie) for the first time. I'm looking forward to it, should be fun.

This morning I had a milestone of sorts in my young piloting career. My 500th landing! For a guy with 130 total hrs, I think 500 landings is pretty good...works out to 3.85 landings per hour flown. I pride myself in working hard on this facet of aviation so I do a lot of touch/goes to stay as sharp as I can. Mostly because its really a blast--my favorite part about flying, and secondly because I had such a hard time with it early in my career.

So my morning conisted of a 0500 alarm, 37 mile commute to Boulder, workout at 24hr fitness, grab the DA-20 across the street from my office at Boulder airport...fly over to Longmont and do 5 touch/goes. And be back on the ground tying down the airplane by 0730!! Not too bad, did more by 0730 than most people will do all day! ;) And there cant quite possibly be a better way to kick off a friday morning, or any morning for that matter, than being at the controls of an aircraft. I keep telling my non-pilot friends its better than sex!! They respond by saying, "you're doing it wrong!" haha! Happy birthday America!

The DA-20 waiting for me....Typical morning balloon launch in Boulder. I got an up close view of them on my flight. Was going to snap some photos but the canopy was a little dirty and I forgot to clean it before taking off.

This was a nice looking polished Cessna 150 parked on the ramp. I believe it belongs to a retired Air Force Colonel, by the writing on the side.
