Ron's RV7 Aircraft Factory

Welcome to my personal blog. This site was created as an informal description of my build progress in the construction of a Van's RV7 aircraft. A place where family/friends/builders/curiosity seekers can follow along. It is not intended to be a detailed description of every step in the building process as that would be much too time consuming. There are plenty of sites that do a great job in that arena, that is not my intention with this site. My intention is for this to be a philisophical/motivational/inspirational account of the emotional ups and downs of the life changing journey...and it will change your life. I hope this will give you an idea, through my eyes, of what its like to make this transformation. A note to other builders, I am not an expert so do not put your safety at risk by attempting anything you see on this site until you have done your own research, or send me an email so we can discuss it. Any deviations from the plans are not approved, nor endorsed by Van's Aircraft or myself. Thanks for visiting.

More Flap Actuator Work HOBBS 856.5 hrs

Since I spent all day Saturday getting ready for the BBQ, I didn't get as much time on the project as I was hoping. I did progress on the flap actuator assembly and some detail work in the baggage compartment however. Its getting real close to being finished up.

Since I left out the parts that are used to adjust the seat incline. Friends Scott and Gary never use theirs and since I have long legs for a 5'9" guy I don't anticipate moving the seat forward as I want all the leg room I can get. But...that leaves the horizontal cross piece with a row of pre-punched holes in it and also a little weak in structure for my taste. So, I am adding a piece of angle alum underneath to stiffen it up. More pics on this later.

Parts primed and riveted

Finishing up my oil/tool/misc compartments I added to the baggage area. I just bought some cheap cam locks from Home Depot to secure them. Do I need to lock them? Probably not...but now I have the option.
