Ron's RV7 Aircraft Factory

Welcome to my personal blog. This site was created as an informal description of my build progress in the construction of a Van's RV7 aircraft. A place where family/friends/builders/curiosity seekers can follow along. It is not intended to be a detailed description of every step in the building process as that would be much too time consuming. There are plenty of sites that do a great job in that arena, that is not my intention with this site. My intention is for this to be a philisophical/motivational/inspirational account of the emotional ups and downs of the life changing journey...and it will change your life. I hope this will give you an idea, through my eyes, of what its like to make this transformation. A note to other builders, I am not an expert so do not put your safety at risk by attempting anything you see on this site until you have done your own research, or send me an email so we can discuss it. Any deviations from the plans are not approved, nor endorsed by Van's Aircraft or myself. Thanks for visiting.

Aviation BBQ HOBBS 848.0 hrs

Saturday night I had a get together at my house to show off the project and talk RV's, drink some cold beer, eat some mouth watering food and share great conversation. Unfortunately, with my hosting duties consuming all of my time, I forgot to take any pictures of the event. We BBQ-ed beef and chicken skewers marinated in a hot and spicy sauce and had plenty of side dishes to supplement the main course including my homemade potato salad. It was a tasty affair.

I had a fire in the backyard fire pit and we spent most of the time outside enjoying the mid-80-degree temps and wonderful extended summer we are having out here in the Mile High city...gorgeous weather. It really was a nice evening...all told, 15 people showed up for the extravaganza.

Thanks to everyone who helped out with cooking (Rusty) and food prep and brought something to contribute to the gathering. Special thanks to Mike and Aneta for buying me a pneumatic rivet puller for the shop! Very cool....gonna use this on my baggage compartment floors real soon.

Here is a list of attendees...thanks to everyone for coming out!

Mike and Aneta Rettig (Empennage, RV10)  (+2...brought along their neighbors and I forgot their names?)
Scott and Deb Mills (Flying, RV9A)
Gary and Carolyn Zilik (Flying, RV6A)
Sean Blair (Fuselage, RV7) ....all the way up from Colorado Springs!
Coy Rhoades
Bryan Raley (Empennage, RV8 or 8A)
Rusty and Rhoda Atkins
Scott and Amber Bacom

  1. Thanks again Ron. I'm glad you like the rivet puller. I am getting a lot of use out of mine. We all had a great time at your BBQ! Our neighbors, Barry and Selma, have been lending an occasional hand on our RV-10 project, so they have become interested in the whole Homebuilt community. It was great to see how far you've come. I really like your paint scheme drawings and can't wait to see her fly. Keep up the good work.
